MMOexp: The appeal to adventure made in the game by Elden Ring

The appeal to adventure made in the game by Elden Ring proved irresistible to numerous players when it debuted on the 25th of February. Perhaps a bit irresistible for some players, since their eagerness to plunge into the game's stunning and terrifying landscape, coupled with the game's inclination to obscure things that other games make very obvious, caused them to skip right by the area for Elden Ring Runes training in combat at the start. It appears that a few players mistaken this place of instruction and learning as one of FromSoft's infamous and dangerous traps.

After customizing your character and doing a little light exploration of the sprawling landscape, and receiving your generous ass handed in by sly monstrosity Grafted Scion, you find yourself in a dark cavern, seemingly discarded as a Sid's toy in Toy Story. As you begin to make your way through the cave there are two basic options before you are: a door that is lit by the soft light of a glowing tree with statues lined its steps, and an pit, where the ghost waits for you to dive in. While the tree's glowing glow is attractively warm, the cold, dark pit that the ghost is trying to lure you into actually houses the game's combat instruction.

Some games lead players to progress by using visual clues such as glowing sources. In this respect, Elden Ring is no any different. The literal glowing tree draws players to the game's vast open world. The pit's combat tutorial introduces players to essential gameplay mechanics like blocking, avoiding, dodging and locking onto enemies it is a great training course, especially for players who are taking their first plunge into FromSoft's entire Dark Souls design ethos with Elden Ring. But who could blame you to not plunge into Elden Ring Runes buy the mysterious pit because a ghost told you to? After all, Souls games are notorious for their ability to lure players into a myriad of dangerous traps. How does a player know this pit isn't another one?
